FOLLOWING the letter from D A May in the last edition (July 5), I feel the need to say that the refusal to take the contents from kerbside caddy due to contamination in the bags, i.e maggots, in this hot climate is a disgrace.
It appears the refuse collectors blame the residents for the maggots in the bags, and refused to empty the caddy.
I had a similar problem with my caddy, but the contamination (maggots) were present because of the refuse collectors not doing their jobs properly, and only emptying half of the bags in my kerbside caddy, leaving two bags in the caddy.
After a few days maggots appeared in the caddy. I had to do their job for them, and dispose of the bags myself.
It is a disgrace that the collectors refuse to empty the caddies due to contamination, when some of them are the reason for the contamination in the first place.
