WHILE it is good to see some activity around the improvements at the Windle Island Junction it would have been nice to know that the plan was to close the Rainford Bypass at Windle on Monday, March 26 during rush hour.
I am not sure at what time it was closed but I queued in traffic from St Helens on my normal commute home and it was closed by then at 6pm.
This caused a long tail back and confusion when traffic reached the traffic lights.
I do not recall seeing any notification via a public notice in the local press or online and the signage on the route was negligible – very frustrating with no indication of how long any closure is in place and at what times.
A number of other people who make the same journey were also completely unaware of the closure so I was not the only one caught unawares.
