TOWN let victory slip from their grasp in the closing seconds of their FA Vase First Round clash with Yorkshire visitors Parkgate. Leading 2-1 Town only had to run the clock down, but were caught deep into injury time when Parkgate equalised with virtually the last kick of the 90 minutes and then went on to lose 4-2 in extra-time.

Rainhill 1st vs Alder 1st: Already relegated Alder elected to bat and got off to a decent start. With Rainhill needing 25 points for a chance of promotion the pressure was evident. As Alder had nothing to lose, they played with a freedom that was to be their downfall. Qureshi 4 for 36, Dale 3 for 36 and Williams 3 for 17 kept the visitors to 120 all out off 44. Only Singh (42) showing any patience.

In the Premier Division; Newstreet keep the pressure on Diamonds with a narrow 1-2 away win at Bold Rangers, Rainford North End have to thank the evergreen Dave Brewer for his solitary goal in a tight game at Bushy Lane. Parr Cons had a 3-2 win at home to Knowsley South to record their first win of the season, Penlake beat Sutton Junction 4-1 whilst St Helens Town Res had a comfortable 5-2 home win against Clock Face Miners.

England Netball is pleased to confirm that this September will see the return of International Netball to the Echo Arena Liverpool when England face Jamaica in the first of a three match series. Following a convincing 3-0series win in April against Barbados, England will head to the Echo Arena Liverpool looking to maintain their number 3 world ranking against a Jamaican side who currently reside 4th in the current IFNA standings.

Following Billinge’s run of poor results, they were able to welcome back team Captain Gaz Fletcher, Chris Tunstall and Martin Seddon, however the strike force of Sean Homer, Danny Murphy and Bobby Jones where all still unavailable due to injury or work commitments. So the changes needed to be rung yet again. At left back Mike Port was preferred following his impressive debut in previous game against Garswood.
