In a statement posted on the school's social media channels on Sunday evening, acting St Augustine's head teacher Miss Quarless said: "After careful consideration and to ensure the safety of our staff and pupils, I have made the decision to close the school site tomorrow.

"As you are aware we are having extensive building works and I can not guarantee how the winds will affect this until I am on site tomorrow. I will not risk the safety of our pupils and staff while I make that decision.

"Your child’s attendance will not be affected by this closure as this is unforeseen circumstances.

"Attendance is crucial for learning but safety is paramount. Work will be set via Seneca and Sparx and teachers will be available via edulink/teams to support.

"I will update you further tomorrow.

"Stay safe. Miss Quarless".
