THE letter by Tony Smith in last week’s paper was brilliant and concise.
Our council wastes money “like it’s going out of fashion” and in one area in particular it is obvious they haven’t spent a penny on consultants - that is the repair of potholes.
All too often a “repaired” pothole is left with crumbly edges and without being sealed with bitumen.
Stuart Road in Windle has had potholes repaired and, a matter of a few weeks later, lo and behold, they appear again.
Where is the magic machine that was heralded a few years ago as being the answer to the growing number of holes?
I hope it hasn’t fallen into one!
We now have in St Helens main roads and side roads which look as though they have been bombed.
Nutgrove Road and Knowsley Road are two prime examples.
