I REFER to the article on January 16 regarding the continued flooding of St Helens Cemetery.

For your information, I wrote to Councillor Baines on November 1 2021 asking why the flooding issue had never been addressed.

I received a reply from within the council saying the issue was being addressed and a major feasibility study was being carried out.

I also mentioned (with photographic evidence) that many of the grids all around the cemetery completely silted up and the water just runs from the high ground to the Rainford Road entrances.

I also asked what was the schedule for cleaning the drains.

From memory, I think it was in 2019 they were last cleaned.

My question is: “What exactly are the council doing and by when will it be done?”

There doesn’t appear to be any will whatsoever to resolve this for the taxpayers of St Helens.
