ST HELENS is fast becoming the centre of the darting universe.
It is through a combination of local talent storming the PDC and the determination and effort of the organisers of the St Helens Darts Academy at Sidac bringing darts to a new youth audience.
This rugby town is now also a darts town. So where are the places to throw in the town centre?
When The Swan is demolished there will be a couple at best - The Talbot and Dolliez by my count. Feel free to offer more, but there won’t be many.
If anything, some leading pubs have whipped out their boards in recent years. And it doesn’t have to just be pubs and clubs.
Maybe where in the past you’ve had free ping pong in an empty shop unit, a few dartboards set up would bring some much-needed footfall? Or perhaps the council creating a St Helens Open weekend at the town hall and across the centre would be good too.
But for starters, please landlords give us a few more boards.
