THE letter in last week’s St Helens Star (28 December), entitled ‘It’s Off-Putting’ is correct in its content on street parking.

However, I feel I need to add to the frustration of car parking on retail parks in the St Helens area.

I am a regular at Costa Drive Thru in the town. I get my coffee and refreshment and park in the blue badge space.

I noticed the new signs which state you are given 90 minutes only before you are fined £100!

If you pay within 30 days it’s only £60. This is half the time it used to be.

Will places get less custom if people are fined for eating a meal, thinking they can relax and get an extra coffee or a dessert?

I think the council need to step in as soon as possible on this issue and negotiate with the owners of these car parks.

As last week’s letter suggests, it hurts businesses and St Helens will be deserted.

That in turn would ruin future plans for St Helens’ regeneration.
