IN response to the letter in last week’s Star on December 22 that states that no-one was complaining about this Tory government when many people around the UK were paid to stay at home.

This was otherwise known as furlough - an idea put forward by the TUC, not the idea of Sunak, who took the glory for it.

Governments across the world had to bail out their citizens, which is what a government should do, especially when it’s taxpayers’ money which they use to do the bailing out.

The letter also points out that a balancing of the books is required, looking at everything across the board.

Let’s hope this balancing of the books takes in abolishing the gravy train the Tories currently enjoy.

The waste of this government is unimaginable.

And not forgetting a failed foreign immigration policy, which is costing £7million a week in hotel accommodation for migrants who have crossed the channel.

And the worst of all the white elephants that is HS2 - currently costing £100 billion-plus for riding to save 30 minutes’ travel time for business people who we know live in an age of Zoom meetings.

What a record this government has.

Nothing is functioning in this country following 12 years of Tory rule; roll on a general election in two years - that’s if we still have a democracy and country left by then.
