MUCH as we sympathise with Local Yokel’s frustration with St Helens Council, the idea Rainford should “Rexit” from St Helens is a distraction from our main focus of challenging the council’s plan for the village based on the facts.
And the facts are in our favour. The council’s population figures are unreliable, their housing and employment figures inflated and no account has been taken of developments in neighbouring areas, which is a long-term strategic mistake.
Most of all destroying rare grade one farmland is clearly wrong when brown field sites are available.
We’ve seen that St Helens Council has no intention of listening to the concerns of local people.
But we are confident a planning inspector will listen to the facts.
