I TOOK what turned out to be a long walk taking in Burtonhead Road, the footpath through to Sherdley Park, past the golf clubhouse, down to the nature walk from Sutton Heath through to Ravenhead Renaissance and on through to Ravenhead Road.
Although this walk takes in some nice woods and scenery, some of it industrial, but my main observation was the plethora of detritus, litter, and rubbish left by people who seem to think it ok to spoil everywhere for other people.
Some of it was caused by the bins that I did see, not many I would add, that were positively overflowing to the extent that there was more rubbish on the floor than in the bins.
A lot of people may not agree, but why cannot those fit and able people who are out of work be used as volunteers to help tidy up everywhere?
They could be paid travelling expenses and as we know doing voluntary work is good for your CV – at least it shows you’ve done something for your community and you have a desire to work - all good positive attributes to any prospective employer.
