AROUND the world this Sunday, millions of people will gather in towns and cities to demand urgent action on climate change.

One of our planet's ‘People’s Marches’ is taking place in Piccadilly Square, Manchester, at 11am. St Helens Green Party members will be there — and we hope many more people from the borough will come along and make their voice heard.

Three days later world leaders will meet in New York for a summit on climate change. With time fast running out for action on climate change, our collective voices will tell world leaders to end our life-threatening reliance on fossil fuels and move rapidly towards clean energy.

This weekend also sees the launch of a new report, One Million Climate Jobs, setting out the economic case for drastic cuts in carbon emissions.

Ours is probably the last generation with the power to act on climate change before it really is too late. The life of future generations, of our children and grandchildren, is in our hands. But our leaders need a wake-up call — from people like you.
