Rainhill Town 4 Blacon YC 0

TOWN cruised through to the second round of West Cheshire Football League's Pyke Cup with a comprehensive win against their Chester opponents.

Blacon started strongly, hitting the bar in the first minute, but Town after a sluggish start began to dominate and were rewarded with an excellent individual goal from Ryan Burke following a flowing move down the right wing.

Colin Gannon increased Town's lead with a tap-in following a charge down when the Blacon keeper lost control of the ball

The scoreline should have been greater in the first half after several good chances went begging, but after another slow start in the second period Town took control of the game when Burke completed a brace with a well taken goal.

Jack West put icing on the cake with an excellent volley10 minutes from time.

Town Reserves had an excellent 3-1 victory against Bootle Reserves, Mark Ellis bagging a brace.

The thirds regained winning ways with a 3-2 win against Runcorn Albion and the fourths achieved their biggest win of the season with a 7-2 thumping of Moorfield Reserves.
