SUPER League-leading Saints will be gunning to cap of their Easter programme with a third win in eight days when Hull FC roll into town on Friday night (7.45pm).

Buoyed by their first Easter double since 2009, after good wins over Wigan and Widnes, Saints bounce into what has traditionally been a tough game against the Black and Whites.

Although it has been a gruelling week, both teams are in the same boat with Hull playing most of Good Friday against rivals Hull KR with 12 men and needing a last gasp 50-metre Marc Sneyd drop goal to beat Wakefield.

Saints boss Justin Holbrook explained that training has been different this week in preparation.

He said: “We don’t do much – it is more about recovery.

“We are mindful of the players’ need to freshen up physically and mentally.

“As a coach you cannot try and give them too much information in this period because it is taxing on them.

“I have to stress the importance of this game too.

“We have done well Friday and Monday but we are playing at home against a really good opposition and I want to make sure we are ready.

“We are both playing three games in eight days so it puts everyone in an even situation.”

Hull have a strong pack, and a potent backline featuring Super League’s leading try scorer Fetuli Talanoa, who has crossed 11 times – one more than Saints’ Ben Barba.

They have a special player, too, in half back Albert Kelly.

Holbrook said: “He is a real dangerous run threat and we will do a good job there on Friday against him.

“Hull are a well balanced side - alongside Kelly in the halves Marc Sneyd is a great organiser with a good kicking game and Jamie Shaul is fast at the back.

“Their outside backs are big and strong and their forward pack is solid.

“They have probably played their best of late coming off the back of a few good wins.”

The game will be the first leg of the annual Steve Prescott Cup.
