SAINTS boss Justin Holbrook could make changes to the halves for Thursday's trip to Wakefield.

Holbrook has mulled over his options since Friday's defeat by Wigan and he could recall Danny Richardson and Theo Fages to the side.

Although he admitted it is not the ideal time to be trying out combinations, the importance of the game game means they have to find the winning formula.

Holbrook said: "It is difficult. We are down to three games to go and we are still working on combinations.

"If we can get those wins it is exciting because we have got a lot of improvement in us, but we are running out of time.

"We have to get it right on Thursday – I will change it up a little bit.

"I thought Benny (Barba) and Jonny (Lomax) were both really good.

"Benny, for his first game in 10-months in a side that was 12-0 down in the blink of an eye, was outstanding.

"For him to get through 80 minutes in a game like that will make him much better for the run.

"I thought Jonny did well and he tried to create something.

"We will make a couple of changes – there will be some disappointed players but we have to be clear that I have to pick the best 17 that will win this Thursday. That is all I can concentrate on."

When asked if that means the door opening again for Danny Richardson and Theo Fages, Holbrook replied: "Theo and Danny have been great and Matty Lees, too, has been going well in the reserves.

"There are some good young guys who are itching to play and are up to this standard.

"I have thought long and hard over the weekend and today and will finalise those thoughts tomorrow.

"It is about being accountable for the 17 that will be the best to win on Thursday."

After losing to Wigan last Friday, Saints now need to win and rely on Wigan and Wakefield slipping up in the remaining fixtures.
