- SAINTS have beaten Hull FC 19-12 to take the Steve Prescott Cup.
- And more significantly the win keeps them still battling for a place in the top four.
- It was a gutsy win and a game Saints dominated.
- Having failed to convert four early chances they fell behind to a Jamie Shaul try from a forward pass.
- Saints levelled when James Roby, who had an outstanding game, went in from dummy half.
- A Mark Percival penalty gave them a 8-6 lead at the break and they dominated the third quarter with Percival crossing when Theo Fages took on the line and the England centre supported.
- But having dominated, Saints defence cracked through a misfield with Percival palming it back for Mahe Fonue to score a gift.
- A 40/20 from Marc Sneyd straight away put Saints under the cosh, but a disallowed try was as close as they came to overhauling the 14-12 lead.
- Percival scored a miracle try in the corner from a Fages kick.
- And it was left to youngster Danny Richardson to slot the drop goal to make it a two-score lead going into the closing minutes.
- A fantastic team effort, with notable performances from Fages, Richardson, Percival, Roby and a hard-working pack.
