SAINTS will play around the off-loading strengths of new prop Adam Walker next season.

The 6ft 3 Scottish international front rower shone in Hull KR’s relegated side last term, using his frame and dexterity to sneak the ball out of the tackle 59 times during the course of the year.

After a season in which Saints were often limited in setting up the second phase, coach Keiron Cunningham explained that the team will tailor their game to suit the the player’s assets rather than the other way around.

Cunningham said: “Adam can play football and we are going to adapt to how he plays and will have plenty of strike around him.

“He is someone I have closely followed for two seasons.

“Me and his manager have had conversations about Adam’s future over that period of time.

“I had earmarked him for next season, but Hull KR’s relegation came as a shock to everybody.”

Fans have taken a good look at Walker and fellow new teammate Luke Douglas, working in tandem for Scotland in the Four Nations.

It was a partnership that augurs well for the future of Saints' forward pack, particualrly when complemented by Alex Walmsley and Kyle Amor.

“It was good that he was playing Four Nations because everyone could get a look at Luke and Adam and I don’t think anyone was disappointed with what they saw.

“We now have four very good front rowers, which if you combine with Jon Wilkin, Luke Thompson and Morgan Knowles we are not going to go far short,” Cunningham said.
