SAINTS forward Kyle Amor is looking to finish the 2014 season on a high by overcoming an in-form Wigan Warriors in Saturday’s First Utility Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford (6.00pm).

Former Leeds and Wakefield player Amor signed for Saints in September 2013 and started his first season with them at the beginning of 2014. He still can’t believe that in such a short space of time he is part of a League Leaders Shield winning squad and will be walking out at Old Trafford on Saturday.

“Grand Final week is all good fun,” said Amor. “This is something I have never done before and I’m just going to enjoy it all.

“We’ve had a walk around the stadium to familiarise ourselves with the surroundings. It’s an amazing ground. Standing in the middle of the pitch and looking around was just crackers!

“I knew coming to this club would give me a greater chance of winning trophies and playing in the big games like these. To win a League Leaders Shield and now be walking out in front of thousands at the Grand Final in my first season is crazy.”

The 27-year-old has adapted quickly to fit in well with his team-mates and style of play. This will be his first experience of a St Helens versus Wigan derby and it’s one he is very much looking forward to.

“It’s been a real learning curve for me here at Saints,” said Amor.

“To see the demand on the players and what is expected of you here is a lot different from other clubs I have been at. When we lost games at previous clubs you just brushed it off and looked to the next one. Here, losing isn’t an option, it shouldn’t happen.

“I missed the last two Wigan games through injury so this is my first derby and Grand Final experience on the same day. It doesn’t come much bigger than this.”

“Family and friends are making the trip down to watch. Although a lot of my friends are making a big day of it at Hensingham community Rugby League club where I first started playing. They’ll all have the game on cheering us on. They’re proud of what I do.”
