THIS was a very difficult game to win because Prenton closed the game down at every opportunity.
Prenton never looked like running the ball because they could find no way past Newton's defence, consequently they ended up playing a negative and frustrating game which resulted in penalties that gave Prenton their only means of scoring points.
When Newton did break free they played their fast flowing game from which came Newton's two tries, first from Chris Robinson then from Andy McKenna with Pill Golding adding one conversion.
The final points came after Newton swept up field and with seconds left Skipper Al Callaster slotted over a drop goal on the stoke of time.
Newton have a hard game next week when the meet unbeaten table toppers Aspull at home 2.15 ko.
