FORCED to accommodate several changes in personnel due to either injury or non-availability, West Park’s overall effort was not sufficient to seriously trouble the visitors, who comfortable maintained their unbeaten

record to top the league.

Three well constructed tries in the first half, in addition to two conversions and two successful penalties from the trusty boot of ex-Irish international and stand off Simon Mason, was enough to give the visitors a comfortable

25 points to nil lead at half time.

West Park stuck manfully to their task to compete with the visitors larger pack, none more so than flanker and man of the match Patrick Loughnane, but the pressure eventually told, allowing the visitors speedy backs to

regularly test the home defence, which initially stood firm but eventually was forced to capitulate.

Two further tries followed, each converted, before the home side finally managed to breach the visitors sturdy defence, the ball moved quickly and decisively through several pairs of hands to find second row forward

Lewis Harris whose powerful burst took him over the line for a fine try which stand of Lee Rosney converted.

With only 10 minutes remaining, given the opposition, and losing to a semi-respectable margin of 30 points, the home side understandably began to tire, allowing the visitors to engineer a further two tries, one of which

was converted to widen the winning margin and take all league points on offer.

Park can take some comfort from their performance against a side which will undoubtedly be a front runner in gaining promotion at the end of the season, and hopefully will continue their efforts and with a positive belief when competing against next week’s opponents at Burnage.
