WEST Park Vale celebrated success in their opening match of the season, a 13-a-side head-to-head with their counterparts from Lichfield.
The extra space on a big pitch led to tries being scored regularly, thought neither side ceded ground in a blood and guts battle through the middle.
The home team loaned players to their guests to balance the numbers, and in the spirit of the game they played for the opposition as they would have done for their own team.
