HAD Anselmians not had a lightning right winger this game would have been 38-7, but the rapid pace of one player kept them in the game.

Two tries each for the veteran centre Carl Bibby and the ever improving Shaun Tress gained Ruskin the four-try bonus point and one try each from Jones and Sam Hughes put this game well out of the chasing Anselmians reach.

Some outstanding dynamic play by the forwards, in particular Ben Sutton, Adam Leadbetter and Chris Lyon gained the Ruskin backs the extra space to play fast attacking rugby on the front foot. Sam Hughes playing out of his regular position was out standing at fly half and constantly broke the gain line and sprinted into space to release the outside backs.

Shaun Tress kept the score line ticking forward with convertions and the Ruskin team looked unstoppable.

Only for a period of 15 minutes before halftime when Ruskin seemed to stop defending this game would have been finished. Anselmians closing the score to 17-17.

Ruskin Park knuckled down and all the players showed what they have learnt in this league and they continued to score points and retain the ball at key times in the game.

Some end to end rugby and some more fantastic play by Ruskin saw more points on the board, Anselmians continued to chase and got their bonus points.

In summary this was a strong win for Ruskin against another top table team, complete control at times and some passionate rugby, led from the front again by captain of the day Jonny Howden.

The JC Kitchens man of the match award was Sam Hughes.

Ruskin will aim for four out of four wins against struggling Manchester on Saturday.
