AFTER a four-week break Haydock finally got back into Premier League action with a had fought win against a big physical Heysham outfit.

The lack of match sharpness, and a few forced positional changes certainly showed for the Yickers early on, as Heysham went into score the opening try within 2 minutes to take a 0 – 6 lead.

This setback sparked Yick into life with some strong defensive work lead by Danny Gee, Gary Anderton and Kyle Braithwaite laid the platform for wingman Danny Davies to score on four minutes to make it 4 – 6.

Next on the score sheet was the opposite winger Alex James who powered in to make it 10 – 8.

But Heysham hit back on 26 mins to take a half time lead of 10 - 12.

The next score was vital for each team and it was the Yick scrum half Andrew Bacon who scored a well crafted try to put the home side in front for the first time on 52 minutes.

The try was converted by Dean Dollin to make it 16 – 12.

Haydock then stepped up a gear and registered 2 quick fire tries from Karl Dingsdale and Bacon going in for his second, both converted by Dollin to take a 28 – 12 lead and put Haydock in the driving seat.

To Heysham’s credit they played to the final whistle and registered two consolation tries to make it 28 – 22.

Full back Dean Dollin took the Porterhouse Properties Man of the Match accolade, with Andrew Bacon, Scott Johnson, Danny Lee and Adam Brown all in contention.
