HAYDOCK knocked Premier Conference team Wath Brow out of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup on their own midden with a magnificent 17-4 triumph.

Wath - four division above the Yickers - were odds favourites but Haydock has no fear of reputations and put in a ruthless show in west Cumbria.

The Yickers had a slight slope to their advantage and started brightly with Darrell Rotherham scooping up before sending winger Dingsdale on a 90m race to the try line with trailing defenders left behind.

Jordan Gibson goaled .

Just before half time a cross field kick from Gibson was taken and touched down by Danny Davies to Haydock a 10 - 0 advantage at the break.

The second half Brow came out with all guns blazing and put Haydock under large amount of pressure, with Danny Gee, Gary Anderton and Rob and Mike Sexton all working overtime in defence.

Eventually the pressure told with a Wath Brown try after 52 mins.

With Brow sniffing a comeback superb defensive work, especially on two particular occasions when Danny Gee made a great tackle to hold a Brow player up over the line, and a big hit from Rotherham forced the ball loose when Brow looked certain to score.

With 15 minutes left Haydock stand off Jordan Gibson calmly dropped a goal to give Haydock a 11-4 lead .

Haydock wrapped up the game when a smart kick into the opposition in-goal was seized upon by full back Ste Jones to send the travelling Yick touchline into ecstasy as the ref pointed to the spot. Jordan Gibson calmly converted to put Haydock into a 17-4 lead which they would hold onto till the final whistle.

In a fine all round performance the official Man of the Match went to Jordan Gibson, pushed closely by Andrew Bacon, Adam Brown, Connor Smith and Ste Jones.
