THATTO Heath Ladies retained the Women’s Rugby League Challenge Cup on Sunday.

And in a double whammy, their reserves won the Women’s Shield.

Both finals were staged at Odsal, the home of Bradford Bulls, and it is the first time one club has won both competitions in the same year.

The first team defeated Leigh Miners Rangers 62-6.

Player-of-the-match Tara Stanley crossed for four tries and landed seven conversions for a personal points total of 30.

Roxy Mura opened the try scoring and Heath went on to build up a 32-6 half-time lead against a side making their first appearance in the final.

The other tries came from captain Jenny Welsby, Stanley, Jodie Cunningham and Sammie Simpson.

Two scores from Emily Rudge got Thatto rolling again in the second period.

More followed from Sammie Smith and Cunningham, while Stanley went on to complete her personal haul.
