In the NWML Division 3 Grand Final a commanding first half performance by Pilkington Recs A saw them easily dispose of second placed Leigh East 28-6 in the North West Division 3 Grand Final and in doing so secured an unbeaten league record for Paul Cresswell’s team.

Captain, Andy Webster set the tone, opening the scoring with a dart over from acting half with only minutes on the clock. Ryan Stevens converted.

Stevens then turned creator with a sublime pass to Luke Riley who raced to the line, brushing off the full-back on his way to score a converted try.

Some individual brilliance by Josh Lynch, beating four defenders, saw him jink over for his first of the afternoon. Stevens conversion made it 18-0 at half-time

Wingman Jake Hodgson took the game away from Leigh early in the second half when he out-jumped his opposite number to take Stevens’ cross-field kick to score out wide.

Recs were happy to run the game down when Leigh scored a consolation effort 10 minutes from time after a short kick through was pounced on for a converted try.

However, with minutes to play, Josh Lynch intercepted and raced the length of the field to score his second of the afternoon. Retiring player Dave Flynn slotted the conversion for a fitting ending for the popular clubman.

The tireless Paul Gauchwin was the Amdec MOM.
