THATTO Heath Crusaders A were crowned North West Men's League Division One champions on Saturday.

They pulled off a 32-8 victory over Halton Simms Cross at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes.

Heath were first on the scoresheet when Ben Roberts dropped an inside pass off to Darren Woods who crashed through four defenders to score and give them a 4-0 lead.

Simmies scored two quick-fire tries out wide to take an 8-6 lead. Shortly before the break Aarron Greaves pounced on a fumbled Tom Rigby cross kick to reclaim the lead for Heath, Rigby added the extras to give Heath a 10-8 lead at half time.

Heath took command after the break as Darren Woods plucked another Tom Rigby crosskick out of the skies to give Heath a 14-8 lead. Ben Roberts then sent full back Ryan Heaton into space and following a 60 metre break found Darren Woods in support and the centre duly obliged with the try, Rigby added the extras to give Heath an 20-8 lead.

Fine work by Crehan then sent Darren Woods in for his fourth try, before the centre added a fifth with two minutes remaining from another Tom Rigby cross kick to give Heath a 32-8 victory.

The sponsors' Man of the Match went to Darren Woods with Josh Crehan being awarded the Coaches' Man of the Match.
