A TERRIFIC second half defensive stint saw Brook return from Cumbria with the two vital league points on offer.

Brook hit straight back and was unlucky not to regain the lead following a repeat set close the try line Danny Parkes put in an astute kick over the try which agonisingly just rolled out of play ahead attacking finger tips.

After 25 minutes Askam increased their lead stand off Mark Tyson had just enough room to touch down in the corner following a sparkling move.

On the half hour mark Brook levelled the scores they forced an error as the home side tried to clear their own 20 metre area.

From the scrum Brook surged to the try line and from the ruck following a quick play the ball Danny Fairhurst spotted a gap to dive over the try line. Stephen Parkinson made it all square with the conversion.

A massive defensive effort from the visitors kept their try from being breached and went into break level pegging.

Brook came out and started the second period on top and following a repeat set deservedly grabbed the lead.

Sean Richardson Danny Fairhurst and Stephen Parkinson were all involved in the move which led to Jack Parker scoring a well taken try in the corner with Parkinson adding a brilliant touch line conversion.

The next 25 minutes was all about Brook's heroic defensive as they repelled wave after wave of attacks from the hosts.

Special praise must go to Craig Dubois who returned to the field following a badly dislocated finger and Scott Davidson who also returned to fray after a shocking cut to his head which needed several stitches later.

Brook sealed the victory with a superb breakaway try.

Jordy Welsby feigned to kick on half way on the last tackle however he passed the ball to the right and found the space for a rare attack superb handling found the ball in the hands of makeshift winger Jimmy Brown who bamboozled the Askam cover with a great step to go over in the corner to clinch the win.

Danny Fairhurst was selected as both The NW Maintenance Solutions Man of the Match and the Tisdalls Players Man of the Match.
