SAINTS coach Paul Wellens said the team has come through last Saturday’s bruising encounter at Catalans relatively unscathed.

Daryl Clark had to leave the field in Perpignan due to a rib issue, with Jonny Lomax and Konrad Hurrell needing some treatment at times.

However, all will be fit to play for this Sunday’s Challenge Cup quarter final tie at home to Warrington.

“Daryl came off with a bit of a rib issue that he’s had scanned,” said Wellens.

“That’s come back and it’s not too serious so we’re pretty confident that he’ll be fit for the weekend.

“There’s a few players with bumps and bruises but nothing major to report, we’ve come through relatively well.”

Centre Mark Percival missed out last week due to an enforced layoff after failing a head injury assessment following a high tackle by Wigan’s Liam Byrne during the Good Friday derby.

Wellens said that given Percival’s history with concussion issues, he will be seeing a specialist before it is decided whether he will feature on Sunday.

“Mark’s got to go and see a specialist, although normal protocol says that it’s 11 days Mark’s had a couple of concussion episodes in recent times so we just need to get some clearance there,” Wellens said.

“We’re a bit unsure whether Mark will be available but like I always say when one player’s not there, it’s an opportunity for somebody else. I thought Sione has been doing a fantastic job there when he’s filled in at centre and Ben Davies, Waqa Blake are genuine options out there too, we have got options.”

Wellens added that NRL recruit Waqa Blake, who was dropped to the reserves last week, remains in contention for selection.

“I said as soon as Waqa came to the club we’re going to have to be patient with him, he had a pretty short pre-season but what I can say is he’s fitted into the group really well, he’s enjoying his time here and when he has taken the field he’s done a really good job for us, so we’ve got to manage the squad and manage the players and making sure we’re not putting them at risk but he certainly comes into contention.

“I think it was really important for him to get a run in the reserves at the weekend, what he does need is time on the field, some game exposure to get him where we need to be. I don’t think he’s far off now.”
