NEW signing Beri Salihi grabbed a hat-trick as holders Saints Women defeated Warrington 58-6 on Sunday to book their spot in the Challenge Cup quarter final.

There were also braces from the returning Rachael Woosey and Phoebe Hook in the comfortable win at Wolves.

Saints were always in control following a third minute 40m try from full back Salihi – her first try in Saints colours with the sure-footed Amy Taylor slotting the conversion.

Darcy Stott doubled the lead 11 minutes later after supporting a Tara Jones break from dummy half, but Warrington responded with a converted Stevie Donougher score.

Warrington’s resistance soon buckled with a mistake from kick off, with the set ending with Phoebe Hook diving in at the corner.

There were second tries for Salihi and Hook, with Taylor converting both to give Saints an unassailable 26-6 lead.

Saints scored their sixth try bang on the hooter with Rachael Woosey, back in the red vee, crossing from close range with Taylor’s goal making it 32-6 at half time.

Faye Gaskin sent Salihi over in the corner to complete her hat-trick on 48 minutes with the scoring wrapped up by tries from Jones, Woosey Erin Stott and Gaskin.

It means unbeaten Saints top their Challenge Cup group and now earn a home quarter-final against Huddersfield next weekend.
