ST HELENS Sutton A.C members travelled various distances and varying courses over the weekend, achieving some success.

First up was the Parbold Hill fell race, a popular event which nearly always sells out, keeping up their great form of late Steve Anders and Chris Birkett both acquitted themselves well over this gruelling multi terrain course.

Steve finished third overall in 47 minutes 12 seconds to take first place in the MV40 section of the race and Chris clocking a time of 50 minutes 17 seconds to finish 19th overall and second MV45.

Martin and Susan Johnson travelled over the Welsh border to take part in the Village Bakery Half Marathon in Wrexham, and were delighted to return home with PBs.

Martin running 1 hour 44 minutes 30 seconds and Susan 1 hour 52 minutes 00 seconds.

The furthest traveller was England International Matt Crehan who competed in the Seville Marathon in Spain.

Using the race in his build up towards the Manchester Marathon, Matt posted a very good time of 2 hours 19 minutes and 30 seconds, to finish fifth Briton.
