ST Helens Town go into the last weekend of the cricket season with their Division One status on the line after a heavy defeat at Highfield.

Town are just three points ahead of Caldy going into the last game, with one relegation slot to be decided and a home fixture against Sefton Park to come.

Sibusiso Maseko's 5-100 proved to be in vain as Highfield reached 229 all out before bowling Town out for 105.

Sutton still have a chance to win promotion from Division Two but need a positive result and rivals Fleetwood Hesketh to slip up on the last Saturday.

Joe Smith (46) top scored as Sutton successfully defended 119 against Northop Hall with Natalie Brown taking 7-37 off her 17 overs to seal a 43 run win.

In the Premier League, both Rainford and Rainhill have little to play for going into the last weekend.

Rainford won by three wickets against relegation-threatened New Brighton after the home side declared on 220-7. Daniel Harrison (60) led the successful run chase.

Rainhill enjoyed an entertaining draw against out-going champions Wallasey after they declared on 217-9 at Rake Lane. Jack Lowrie (4-35) was the pick of the bowlers as the hosts finished on 213-7.
