BEN Barba’s role in the St Helens team is yet to be determined, says Saints head coach Just Holbrook.
Saints’ high-profile Australian recruit will be available for selection for the first time when Wigan Warriors visit the Totally Wicked Stadium on September 1 following the conclusion of his ban issued by the NRL.
“He’ll definitely come into contention,” said Holbrook.
“He’s been training really well for a while now. He’s a quality player and it’ll be good to get him out there that’s for sure.
“I’m not sure how we’ll accommodate him yet. I wanted to wait until its official that he’s going to be playing, I didn’t want to get ahead of myself because we had a tough game against Leeds that I wanted to win.
“We’ve got next weekend off so we’ll have a chat in the week and slot him in somewhere.”
He featured at stand-off and full-back in the NRL, mostly at the rear for Cronulla Sharks in their Grand Final winning campaign last year.
Earlier this year, after switching to rugby union with Toulon, he made appearances at centre and on the wing.
