RAINFORD returned to winning ways in great style with a thumping 147 run win at Wigan.

Matt Bailey gave them a good start with 36 whilst his opening partner Paul Farrar continued his good form with a fine century, eventually falling for 108.

His loss sparkled a mini collapse, rescued by a stand of 61 between Ben Hemingway (39) and Will Threlkeld (23) to enable Rainford to declare on 239 for 8.

The bowlers picked up the momentum in the second half with Stephen Birkett revelling in his return to Ranford taking 4 for 36 and Andy Davies, once again in the wickets with 3 for 28 as Wigan were bundled out for 92.

The 2nd X1 were well beaten on Saturday by Newton-le-Willows and the firsts exited the Ray Digman Cup with a defeat at New Brighton.
