On Sunday, St Helens Striders ventured over the border to take-part in the Run Wigan Festival and Wigan’s 1st ever half-marathon, sight-seeing around Wigan Pier and Haigh Hall Country Park. From over 2000 runners, first male over the line for Striders was Eric Ranson finishing in 1:32 and 78th place, with first lady Lisa Cheers in 1:43, finishing 25th female overall. 17 Striders took on the challenging hilly route, thoroughly enjoying the support from the crowds that came to watch.
A special mention goes to Tony Dagnall who not only finished 1st place V60, but paced Wendy Davies to a personal best of 1:45.
Jon-Jo Doherty smashed the St Helens Striders 5K club record coming 4th in the Wigan 5K in an incredible time of 16:20.
Other races over the last week has seen Debs Hill take on the Cartmel Lakeland Trail 10K, and Peter Medilcott competing at the Wilmslow Half Marathon finishing in a respectable 1:49.
Globe trotters Tony and Louise Padmore experienced the energy and entertainment of the Rock N Roll Washington DC Half Marathon, finishing in 1:44 and 2:18 respectively alongside over 13,000 runners.
