ST HELENS Men’s Hockey team cannot be stopped at the top of the table.
By beating second placed Bury 5-1 at their place they have gone 12 points clear with just 12 points to play for.
The club’s superior record in head-to-heads means even if the challengers were to draw level St Helens would win based on those head-to-head results.
The game itself saw St Helens go three up by half time with goals from Paul Horton (two) and Phil Travis,.
Further goals from Lewis Robinson and a hat-trick securing third from Horton in the second half ensured St Helens would win the game and allowed them to celebrate the league win.
They have come a long way in 12 months; to win the league and remain unbeaten and closing in on a 100 goal season and conceding under 20 deserves applause all around.
St Helens are the champions!
