PILKINGTON produced a sluggish display but even so they managed to edge out Egerton to extend their unbeaten run to six games and move back into second place.

Pilkington took the lead in the 20th minute. After some neat work on the left, Potter produced the cross that Gillam stabbed home.

But they could only hold onto the lead for a few mins when an Egerton free kick dropped to their centre-half who fired home the equaliser.

In the 35th min, a tigerish run into the box from Smailes forced a corner. The inswinger was met at the front post by Gillam to put Pilks in the lead again.

In the 55th minute Pilks extended their lead. Sephton closed down well and fed Boylan who squared it for Taylor to tap in.

Despite the scoreline the second half was dominated by Egerton with the two forwards a constant threat but the impressive McCausland was a rock at the back.

With 25 mins left, Boylan turned neatly and played in Taylor who was able to roll it into the net to make in 4-1.

With 17 minutes left Egerton pulled one back and they had the ball in the back of the again with 10 minutes left but it was ruled out for offside.
