Tom's the fastest Strider over testing course

ST Helens Striders fielded three teams at the recent Haigh Hall Country Park relays in Wigan.

The senior men's team of Alex Jackson, Ste Pickavance, Les Abbott and Tom Houghton all performed well on the testing course to bring the club home in 27th position, with Tom Houghton recording the fastest Striders team time of 25 minutes.

The women's team of Rachel Fishwick, Honor Duffield, Carol Foster and Dawn Platt managed to bring the club home in a very creditable 10th position in the women's section, with Honor clocking the quickest time with 29 minutes 6 seconds.

Striders third team competed in the mixed team's section and finished in third position.

Brian Middleton made a welcome return from a lengthy injury lay off and young Alex Abbott took part in his first ever competitive race. Anyone interested in joining the Striders can call Les on 01744 23160 or email saintsrun@hotmail.com
