Clock Face 19 Haydock 18
9:32am Monday 5th May 2014 in Sport
A drop goal minutes from the end by Craig Greenall was enough to give Clock Face both points in this thrilling local derby.
Clock got off to a good start when in the opening minutes a short ball from Andy Stanton to Neil Rigby saw him cross for a try that Mark Hamon converted.
This lead did not last long as a loose ball was picked up by Danny Gee who raced away to score under the posts with Dean Dollin converting.
Clock then retook the lead with a similar try to the first but this time it was Peter Riley who received the ball from Stanton to score with Hamon adding on the extras.
Back came Haydock minutes later when another loose ball was picked up well into the Haydock half and this time it was Dean Dollin who raced away to score with Chris Dingsdale converting.
Once again Clock took the lead when Peter Bekker managed to slip the ball out of a tackle to Matt Garner for him to score close to the posts but then with minutes to go to half time the inevitable happened once again Haydock drew level with a try from Karl Dingsdale which Dollin converted to bring the scores level at the break.
The second half turned out to be as close as the first with both sides defences working hard and neither side able to break through and so it was left to Greenall to score the decisive point minutes from the end to give Clock Face both points.
