WIGAN’S attack was noticeably slicker than Saints in Friday’s James Roby Testimonial tussle.
But Saints boss Nathan Brown believes the club’s new combinations will gel in time and he expects week-to-week improvement.
There were glimpses of the strike Saints do possess out wide, with Adam Swift again showing what a prolific try machine he is.
However, there was once again an over-reliance on turning the ball back up the middle.
Brown expects Saints to click once his 1,6,7 and 9 bed in and get used to complementing each others’ games.
Brown said: “Wigan are very well coached by Waney and have been using their similar systems for a number of years. “On the other hand we have got a new half back so we are looking at some new combinations but our game should grow as the season goes.
“Once they play together and keep doing videos and learn from each other it will take time but we will improve gradually.”
