GIRLS from Cowley International College have proudly flown the football flag this season for the town and Liverpool FC.
The under 13s side, who put in many hours of after school training with coach Shannon Howarth, went into the 2014 Premier League Schools Tournament finals, having been undefeated all season and without conceding a goal.
Representing Liverpool FC, they unfortunately went down 2-1 in the semi-finals to eventual winners All Saints’ Catholic High, who were representing Everton FC, in the tournament at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

The competition featured 40 schools representing all 20 Premier League clubs.
More than 10,000 players and 1,300 schools took part in the qualifying rounds. Before the finals, Liverpool FC Ladies ace midfielder Nicole Rolser visited Cowley to present the girls with their Liverpool playing kit.
Cowley PE teacher Nichola Smith praised the team for their outstanding performance and said: “Thanks to Vicky Jepson, of LFC, for all her help and support throughout and giving up precious hours to coach the girls.”
