STUDENTS from Hope Academy boosted their history studies of The First World War on a study trip to Belgium and France this summer.
The 36 students from years 10 and 12 embarked on the trip with the Academy’s Humanities Faculty.
They also visited Tyne Cot British Cemetery, where students and staff held a remembrance service, presenting wreaths, reading poems and offered prayers.
They also attended the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate; a traditional part of daily life in Ypres for which roads are closed so ‘The Last Post’ music can be played.
