STUDENTS from the Village Music School have excelled in the annual Rainhill Young Musician awards.

The pupils enjoyed resounding success with Solomon Miles-Donnelly winning the elementary section playing piano; Georgie Rooney winning the upper primary section again on the piano and Vidyut Vardhan winning the intermediate section playing the drums.

Also having success this year, winning their heats to get through to and compete in the finals were Alessia Briones, Nathan Thomas, Kian Clarke and Liam Fox.

Since opening in 2002, the school in Victoria Street, Rainhill has gone from strength to strength with eight modern classrooms, each equipped with a range of musical instruments.
