THERE are many forms of vandalism, not just litter or fly tipping etc. One form of vandalism, in my view, has taken place on the outskirts of Rainhill. A hostelry in the village has felled one of the loveliest trees in the village, a beautiful copper beech.
There were two of these in the pub car park. Fortunately, some locals saw what was happening and contacted St Helens Council who managed to put a preservation order on the remaining tree. These trees were more than 100 years old and to fell one I think was a dreadful act of vandalism.
