I AGREE with Les Woods' letter (Star, September 10) about smartphone use. It is a bit mad to see this on public transport and in restaurants.
Then again I see this behaviour on the motorway, with cars swerving around and holding up traffic etc. As you you pass them you see people on the phone texting.
This behaviour is dangerous to any road user.
On the other hand, the power of the phones these days is astonishing, especially with wi-fi almost everywhere. It means you can get all kinds of info direct to your phone.
In the example for the restaurant the kids may have been writing a review of the restaurant?
The other point is that the use of mobiles and the access to different new outlets means that young people have an awful lot more access to different types of media news that ever before.
