THE Saints squad took a break from their pre-season schedule to stop off at Whiston Hospital and bring some festive cheer to patients young and old.

The likes of Michael Shenton, Jamie Foster, Ade Gardner and new boy Lance Hohaia handed out goody bags and books to children who were in hospital during the run up to Christmas.

They also called in to see elderly patients in some of Whiston’s wards.

Sally Duce, lead nurse at Whiston’s Children’s and Young People’s Department said: “I would like to thank the Saints players and staff for taking the time to visit the children and elderly.

“The rugby heroes gave the patients a real boost and I’m sure that many of the parents, visitors and staff enjoyed the visit too.

“We would like to thank the Saints for their continued support and wish them a Merry Christmas and the very best of luck for the new year in their new stadium.”
