A FATHER and son had a miraculous escape after a horror crash with a lorry flattened the front of their car.

Stewart Taylor and his rugby playing son Ste walked away from their crumpled BMW after it was in collision with a lorry on Gorsey Lane, Bold.

Heroic Ste, 22, dragged his 42-year-old father from the mangled wreckage – and the pair were left with just cuts and bruises.

Details of the incredible escape – and the picture showing the mangled car – emerged this week.

The smash happened at about 5.45am on August 30 as Stewart drove his son to work in Warrington.

Ste, from Clock Face, told the Star: “I opened the door and fell out of the car and I shouted to my dad, but there was no answer. I shouted him again and he told me he was stuck. I pulled my Dad out then we both collapsed on the floor.

“I just sat on the floor, got my phone and phoned my mum and told her what had happened. Within a couple of minutes the police were there.”

Both men were taken to hospital but had only minor injuries.

Ste, a warehouse worker and rugby player with Clock Face Miners ARLFC, added: “When I saw the photo I just couldn’t believe I’d got out of it. It’s like one of those that you see on TV.

“I’d be a bit embarrassed if someone called me a hero. A few people have said it but I’ve just sat there and said anyone would have done the same.”
