SAINTS player Scott Moore was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car struck three parked vehicles in the early hours.

Moore, 23, was held by police last Friday morning (June 10)after a Volkswagen Scirocco collided with the three cars and a fence on Norwood Avenue, Lowton.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police had been called at 3.50am on Friday, June 10 following reports of the crash.

Moore, who lives in Leigh, was arrested at the scene and questioned by officers before being released on bail.

A GMP statement read: “Officers attended and discovered a Volkswagen Scirocco that had collided with three parked cars and a fence.

“A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and bailed until July 25 pending further inquiries.”

Police added that no one was hurt in the crash.

The alleged incident happened less than three days before Saints were due to travel to Bradford for the Super League fixture, which finished 14-14.

Moore, who frequently starts on the substitutes bench for Saints and is used as a hooker or utility player, was omitted from the squad for that game.

In a brief statement a Saints spokesman said: “The matter is being dealt with internally at the club and he will be subjected to the club’s disciplinary procedure if there is a case to answer.”
