SAINTS have revealed they will subsidise fares for special bus services to ferry supporters to and from ‘home’ games at Widnes’ Stobart stadium next season.

Knowsley Road chiefs say they are in advanced discussions regarding travel arrangements after listening to fans’ views at roadshows where plans for the new stadium have been shown.

Pick-up points are expected to include Knowsley Road, Lea Green Station and Birchley Street and services will run well ahead of kick off.

Fares will be subsidised by the club, Saints have confirmed.

Debbie Thompson, Saints’ head of commercial operations, said: “Many season ticket holders are sticking by us in 2011 and we want to reward their loyalty in any way possible.

“A regular question at our recent roadshows has been travel arrangements and I can assure supporters we are well advanced with this.

“We have had some positive talks with possible transport partners and I can confirm we will be making provisions for buses from sites across St Helens to The Halton Stadium next season.

“The buses will run before and after the games and the cost to supporters will be kept at a minimum.”

Saints announced last month they will be playing next season’s home fixtures at Widnes while their £24m stadium is constructed at Peasley Cross.

More details on timetables and prices for buses will be announced in September.
