A PLANNING application to build a footbridge that will link St Helens town centre with the proposed site of Saints' new stadium has been drawn up.
The proposals, which have been submitted to St Helens Council, suggest building a bridge that passes over the Linkway East road.
If plans get the go-ahead, the structure would allow rugby supporters and shoppers to walk from the town centre over to the proposed Destination St Helens - which involves a rugby stadium and Tesco supermarket – on the former United Glass site at Peasley Croos.
Cyclists would also be able to use the crossing.
